Mockingjay Countdown: Mini Challenge 5 (1st Day)

Mockingjay Countdown
Remember that if you participate in this mini challenge you will add an extra four entries to win the prizes for today.

For this fifth and last mini challenge of the day, I want you guys to pick one song that most sums up, either The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins or Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins. Make sure you tell me the name of the song, the singer or band, and which book it sums up below in a comment. Or like always you can create your own blog post about this, add pictures, and leave a link to your entry below.

  1. "We Are" by Ana Johnsson
I think it could sum up either book, but probably Catching Fire more so.

Here's a few quotes from the lyrics:
"See the devil on the doorstep now (my oh my)
Telling everybody oh just how to live their lives"

    "What about the world today
What about the place that we call home
    We’ve never been so many
And we've never been so alone"

    And the chorus:
"You keep watching from your picket fence
You keep talking but it makes no sense
    You say we're not responsible
    But we are, we are
You wash your hands and come out clean
Fail to recognise the enemies within
    You say we're not responsible
But we are, we are, we are, we are"

It's kinda from the POV of the contestants, like Katniss and the older ones who are making an alliance to get out of the Quell, and also from the POV of the rebels, telling the Capitol how evil and despotic and bloody they are.

  2. If I Ever Leave This World Alive - Flogging Molly sums up The Hunger Games for me. When I listen to that song I think of the part in the book where Katniss volunteers to go into the hunger games for Prim. It can also be played when Katniss first goes into the Hunger Games and since the Hunger Games takes up a good majority of the book then it can sum up the entire book. :D

  4. Not Afaid by eminem totally reminds me of Catching Fire.

    Here's some of the lyrics:

I'm not afraid to take a stand
    Everybody come take my hand
We'll walk this road together, through the storm
    Whatever weather, cold or warm
Just let you know that, you're not alone
Holla if you feel that you've been down the same road

And I just can't keep living this way
So starting today, I'm breaking out of this cage
I'm standing up, Imma face my demons
I'm manning up, Imma hold my ground
I've had enough, now I'm so fed up
Time to put my life back together right now

Every time I hear this I can't help but think of Katniss and Catching Fire

  5. My Last Breath by Evanescence reminds me of both books.

It basically is talking about being together for your last breath. I picture them in the Hunger Games and Catching Fire together awaiting their deaths while fighting to live. So beautiful!

  6. own you- Shinedown.

It reminds me of both books. It basically talks about a person who "made you and trained you" and you want to break through but they own you.

It's a perfect fit for this trilogy

  7. Said and Done by Meiko

This song seems like it's a song from Peeta to Katniss. I guess it would go most with Catching Fire.

  8. I think Hope for the Hopeless by Fine Frenzy.

It's basically a girl who is struggling and it says there is hope for the hopeless. I imagine this as Katniss in Catching Fire, when there is finally hope with all of the uprisings and the discovery of a possible District 13.

  9. Dark Blue by Jack's Mannequin

I think this describes the first Hunger Games in which Peeta is thinking about Katniss

  10. Just the Way You Are- Bruno Mars

This song describes how Peeta feels for Katniss in both books

  11. I'd don't really know why but Fly - By Celine Dion reminds me of this series! It's all about "finding the light" and just trying to make it better.

  12. Get Me Through December by Alison Krauss.

"I've been to the mountain left my tracks in the snow
Where souls have been lost and the walking wounded go
I've taken the pain no girl should endure
Faith can move mountains of that I am sure"
